The NHS IA wanted to improve the navigation efficiency of the National Electronic Library for Health. InfoArk devised a standard list of medical activities to be matched in a matrix against specialist medical conditions, eg users could retrieve documents on lung cancer AND diagnosis, or on cardiovascular disease AND surgery – or vise-versa.
We researched the options on-site at five specialist libraries and proposed a structure that we validated in two one-day user workshops.
Government projects
InfoArk works regularly for central government agencies as well as for local government bodies.
Our work for the UK national association of local authorities was incorporated into a new UK metadata standard, the Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary.
We support this standard in our projects, while also customizing a list of preferred terms that reflects the needs of each client.
