InfoArk revamped the national content categories for local government, introducing a leaner, more intuitive hierarchy largely based on the functional services provided, rather than on organizational structure.
Regional workshops endorsed this approach and we went on to map key headings to the UK central government’s classification categories, as part of a strategy to provide seamless information-sharing across government. This work was incorporated into a new UK metadata standard, the Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary.

We support this standard in our projects, while also customizing a list of preferred terms that reflects the needs of each client.
